IronPort Named Anti-Spam Technology of the Year

IronPort Wins InfoWorld's 2007 Technology of the Year Award

SAN BRUNO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 11, 2007 -- IronPort® Systems, Inc., the leader in gateway security, today announced that IronPort's C-Series™ appliance, powered by proprietary IronPort Anti-Spam™ technology, was recognized with InfoWorld's 2007 Technology of the Year Award, ranking IronPort at the top of its class for the tenth time in the last twelve months. The IronPort solution was noted for its easy set up, superior performance and high accuracy -- all with zero tuning required.

"This award, as well as the nine other major awards we've won in the last twelve months, affirms IronPort's unparalleled ability to thoroughly and accurately shield our customers from unwanted email," said Tom Gillis, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at IronPort Systems. "Major companies and industry experts such as InfoWorld are choosing IronPort Anti-Spam because we stop more spam, and stop it more accurately, than competing solutions. This is especially true for emerging threats such as image spam. Many vendors are still having a difficult time reacting to this new technique. IronPort has been blocking an industry-best 99 percent of image spam since it became a major problem over a year ago."

InfoWorld praised IronPort's anti-spam technology for its "easy set up" and "excellent spam filtering" with "no tuning necessary." For customers concerned about accuracy, InfoWorld also noted that IronPort Anti-Spam registered "the fewest false positives of any solution tested."

"Our department is relying less and less on signature-based technology and moving towards solutions that combine reputation with strong anti-spam techniques," said Brandon Meyers of Cooper Industries, a global manufacturer of electrical products and tools (with 2005 revenues of $4.7 billion and over 29,000 employees). "With IronPort Anti-Spam, the efficacy rate is spectacular. We are very pleased to be working with IronPort."

InfoWorld's 2007 Technology of the Year awards take into consideration the more than 230 products reviewed by the InfoWorld Test Centers over the course of 2006. 41 best solutions are chosen, one for each category -- including SOA, Web 2.0, open source, application development, security, storage and others.

About IronPort Anti-Spam

IronPort Anti-Spam utilizes the industry's most innovative approach to threat detection. IronPort's unique Context Adaptive Scanning Engine™ (CASE) examines the complete context of a message, including: content, methods of message construction, reputation of the sender and reputation of embedded URL(s). This in-depth, rules-based analysis stops over 98 percent of spam with the industry's lowest false positive rate. IronPort Anti-Spam's innovative technology makes the solution particularly effective against emerging spam threats such as image spam. Image spam, which has skyrocketed (from 5 percent to 33 percent of total spam sent) in the last twelve months, has been one of the main drivers of the dramatic increase in overall spam volumes. IronPort Anti-Spam stops an industry-best 99 percent of image spam -- with the industry's lowest false positive rate.
