Iconocast was originally designed and founded by my Michael Tchong. Here is more about Michael:

The founder of Ubercool, Michael Tchong, is an internationally recognized speaker on emerging trends in business, culture and media. Michael is a highly energizing and motivational speaker.

Michael was born on the Caribbean island of Aruba , is half-Chinese and speaks Dutch natively ― all factors that have contributed to his insightful, global vision.

Michael Tchong ’ s father was born in Canton , China . His family name means “ bell” in Chinese. No wonder Michael’ s entire career has been focused on making things “ clear as a bell.”

Throughout his career, Michael has been ahead of market trends:

• In January 2003, Michael launched Trendsetters.com, an online resource for trendwatchers. In November 2003, he published its first trend report, Trendscape 2004, which tracks the most important trends shaping this decade.

 

• In 1997, Michael founded ICONOCAST, a popular 50,000-circulation weekly publication, which hosted the world’s largest online marketing conference by revenue, Web Attack!, featuring Dennis Rodman, RuPaul and Cindy Margolis.

 

• In 1996, Michael established CyberAtlas the Internet’s first widely recognized research brand.

 

• In 1991, Michael founded Atelier Systems, which developed a "personal communication manager” called “Hello,” that used a slick interface to simplify maintaining address book, correspondence, and being able to seamlessly fax and e-mail contacts via a modular architecture. Apple’s Newton, Palm’s Pilot PDA and Microsoft Outlook all used concepts pioneered in Hello.

• In 1987, Michael founded MacWEEK, the first publication to address the seachange shift that desktop publishing would bring to the advertising, printing and publishing industries. Michael solidified MacWEEK’s position by inviting by leading artists, like Peter Max and Keith Haring, to create their first artworks ever on the Macintosh.

 

• In 1983, Michael taught marketing seminars on the emerging market of home computing for Scholastic upstart Family Computing. Home computing would not become a market force for another decade, when it coalesced behind the IBM PC.
• In 1982, Michael was the first advertising planner to use an Apple III computer and VisiCalc to computerize media schedules.
• In 1981, Michael created the first reach-and-frequency program ever for the Hewlett-Packard 41C calculator.
