My marriage lacks intimacy

You are missing out on an important part of marriage, which is affection and a loving sexual relationship.

To expect you to settle for virtual celibacy without being prepared to talk about it is not fair, and you need to say this to your husband.

To help him, introduce some ideas about why you think he does not want to make love. Has he absolutely no sex drive?

If so, he could see his GP and have tests for medical problems such as diabetes or under-active thyroid. Is he on medication for high blood pressure or depression, which can affect a man's libido? It may be that he needs some testosterone treatment if his levels are very low.

Alternatively, is it that he does not want sex with you but he is masturbating? That would mean there is not much wrong with his sex drive but it's more to do with how he feels about the relationship, bad past sexual experiences, or his feelings about women generally.

Has he, for example, a fear of sex, has there been any sexual abuse? You also need to discuss his sexual history. Has this been a problem in his past relationships? Even in the 21st century, some men can't come to terms with the fact that they might be gay.

It may be something he can't even acknowledge to himself. If it's not a medical problem then I recommend psycho-sexual therapy. If he is not prepared to do anything about it, do you think it's realistic for you to settle for so much rejection for the rest of your life?
