Never shake a baby
Shaken baby syndrome (SBS) results in serious injuries after violently shaking an infant or toddler.
The child becomes injured because he doesn’t have the muscle support to hold his head up. SBS usually happens when a caregiver shakes a baby out of frustration, usually when a baby is crying.
Here is a list of what to do when parents feel they may lose control, courtesy of the American Academy of Pediatrics:
1. Take a deep breath and count to 10.
2. Let your baby cry alone.
3. Call someone for emotional support.
4. Call your pediatrician to ensure there arent medical reasons for the crying child.
