Is there a natural cure for irritable bowel syndrome?
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common digestive problem, typical symptoms of which are bloating, excessive flatulence, abdominal discomfort and constipation and/or loose bowels.
Very often, IBS can be effectively dealt with by addressing one or both of two main underlying problems: food sensitivity and an imbalance in the organisms that normally inhabit the gut.
With regard to food sensitivity, the most common food culprits by far are milk, cheese and wheat. It seems cutting back on these foods has not worked for you, though you may still be eating foods to which you are sensitive.
However, the fact that you get symptoms with pretty much anything you eat or drink suggests to me that the problem is not primarily one of food sensitivity. Instead, it is likely to be an imbalance in the ecosystem within the gut.
The intestinal tract normally contains about one-and-a-half to two kilograms of bacteria which have an important part to play in digestion and keeping the lining of the gut healthy. In my experience, individuals with diarrhoea as a predominant symptom lack these healthy gut bacteria.
It might help you to take a supplement of probiotics (the official name for healthy gut bacteria supplements) to help restore balance in your gut. To begin with, I recommend that you take a supplement called Replete. This contains massive amounts of healthy gut bacteria in powdered form.
A tub of Replete contains seven sachets. I suggest you take half a sachet in water each day for two weeks. After this, I recommend you take a supplement called Acidophilus Forte (also a probiotic). Take one capsule, twice a day for one or two months.
You can get both of these supplements from the manufacturer on 0121 433 8729. Taking these should really help to restore health and normal function to your gut.
Another possibility is that you have overgrown an unhealthy organism in your gut such as yeast or a parasite. If you have problems such as athlete's foot, itchy scalp and thrush, then yeast overgrowth is likely.
If your symptoms started suddenly after an episode of food poisoning, especially if this was associated with foreign travel, then you mat be harbouring a parasite.
If you would like further information about dealing with these more specialised problems, they can be found in my book 'Ultimate Health - 12 Keys to Abundant Health and Happiness'.
