Should I get my mole checked out?
It's sad to admit, but just like everyone else, doctors have 'off' days - when they are over-tired, or someone in the family is ill for instance. And it may just be that you saw your doctor on a day when he wasn't on top form.
I know that's rough on you - and yes, it shouldn't happen, but it does. There is a terrible shortage of GPs at the moment - most of us are trying to look after far more patients than is recommended, and though the idea of switching to another doctor may seem attractive, in practice it may not be easy.
Most GPs aren't too keen on taking on someone who already has a GP in the area - people with no local GP are a far higher priority. I'd suggest you give your doctor another chance. If you don't like him second time around, then yes, it may be time for a rethink.
The simplest option is to try another doctor in the same practice - all doctors are aware that there are personality clashes, and this is usually not a problem. If you really do want to switch to a different practice altogether, then you need to find another one that will take you on. If this turns out to be difficult, then you could ask your local Health Authority to allocate you to the list of another GP.
But be warned - you could end up worse off than you are now! Regarding the mole - without seeing it, I really can't comment. But just because it is raised up from the skin does not mean that it has turned cancerous - plenty of completely benign moles are quite lumpy.
