Can hypnotherapy help me to conceive?
Thanks for your question. There is a short and a long answer to this one. The short answer is no, but having said that, there is a lack of good quality research into most complementary treatments and they certainly do have their enthusiasts.
Most medical treatments have undergone rigorous research to ensure they are not only safe, but that they actually make a difference to the condition they are used for. There is little available research to guide us on the effectiveness of hypnotherapy as a primary treatment for infertility.
It is certainly known that stress can affect ovulation and hypnotherapy can be used as a de-stressor. Smoking is known to reduce fertility and hypnosis is used to help people stop, so this is another way it might have an effect.
