How can I persuade my son to eat healthy foods?
My eight-year-old son who has Asperger's Syndrome eats a very restricted diet.
Apart from sweets and biscuits which he would eat all the time if he was allowed to, but which I restrict, his diet consists of chicken dippers, turkey dinosaurs, cocktail sausages, potato waffles, cheese, bread, apples, peas and sweetcorn.
He refuses to eat anything else and will not try different foods no matter how much persuasion is used. When we went on a half board holiday for two weeks he ate only bread, a few chips and strawberry ice-cream and complained that the hotel had no food that he liked!
There was any amount of different foods available but he would not try them. Will this have an effect on his long term health?
I give him a daily children's vitamin tablet. Have you any ideas on how to get him to eat a wider variety of foods?
