Venison

Units Calories Protein Carbo-

Fat
Venison (roast, meat only) per 100g 198.00 35.00 0.00 6.40

Pros: Venison has a similar nutritional profile to beef but is lower in fat. It is also slightly richer in vitamins and minerals, with the exception of zinc. One serving of roast venison supplies more than one third of the recommended daily allowance for iron compared with less than one quarter in roast beef sirloin. It's a reasonable good source of B vitamins, which help convert food into energy and are essential for a healthy nervous system.

Cons: When buying farmed venison, look for the quality mark 'BPV' (British Prime Venison). This ensures the deer have been raised in a humane way.
