Most people know that washing their hands is a good way to keep from getting sick, but just a quick rinse won't do the trick. Here are some tips on how to wash your hands properly, courtesy of the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle:

 

Health Tip: Does Your Child Need Stitches?

Some cuts may heal on their own with the help of some antiseptic and a bandage, but others may be more serious and require stitches.

Deep cuts that are bleeding heavily, or cuts longer than one-half inch may need stitches, says the University of Virginia Health System. Make sure that you see a physician about any cuts that are near the eye or on other areas of the face.

If the cut does not stop bleeding after applying pressure for five to 10 minutes, the university recommends calling your doctor to see if your child may need stitches. Cuts with jagged edges, embedded dirt or gravel, or excessive pain should also be examined by a physician.
