Gambling Problems or Addictions
This research study will evaluate an investigational medication to treat pathological gambling in people over age 18. If you are restless or irritable when trying to cut back or stop gambling, are gambling to escape problems, or are jeopardizing your job or relationships because of gambling, you may qualify.
Research sites are located throughout the United States.

Bipolar Disorders
This study will examine the effectiveness, safety, and tolerability of licarbazepine, as added treatment to lithium or valproate in people with a manic episode of bipolar I disorder. Licarbazepine is an investigational medication chemically similar to other drugs that have been approved as mood stabilizers (for example: Tegretol). Bipolar I patients ages 18 to 70, who are currently in a manic episode, and who do not have a history of non-response to both lithium and valproate may be eligible.

Insomnia
This clinical research trial at Stanford University Sleep Research Center is studying an investigational medication to treat insomnia. Candidates 20-65 who are non-diabetic, not pregnant and not nursing, in good health, and are not working evenings or rotating shifts may qualify. Candidates must also not have other sleep disorders, such as apnea or restless legs.
