The band's frontman Chris Martin confirmed that they will have a project coming out this year and two others next year.
After rumors were circling that another album from Coldplay is rushed in this year, a confirmation was given through the band's frontman Chris Martin. The vocalist told BBC's Steve Lamacq that the band indeed have a new album, an EP and a greatest hits on the pipeline although they just released their fourth studio album "Viva la Vida" in June.
However, it is only the EP, titled "Prospect March", that will be out this year around Christmas. The other two projects, a new studio album and a greatest hits will be released in relatively the same time in December 2009. "Then we'll be gone - like Keyser Soze in The Usual Suspects," Chris said.
With the release of the new studio album and the greatest hits compilation, Coldplay will fulfill their contract obligation with their label EMI. A source told The Sun last month that the band would take some time in the middle of their world tour to polish an album. Materials that made up the new set would be the leftovers of the "Viva la Vida" sessions that were so productive that many songs did not make the cut.
Coldplay are in the middle of a world tour that is kicked off today (September 1) in Strasbourg, France. Their video for "Violet Hill" has just been announced as the contender of Best Special Effects at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards which will be held on Sunday, September 7 in Los Angeles.
