Drama in Coronation Street as Gail arrives on crutches for wayward son's court sentencing

When Coronation Street's Gail Platt arrived at Weatherfield Magistrates Court, it wasn't only her wayward son that caused her pain.

Filming on location in Cheshire, Gail, played by Helen Worth, appeared on crutches as she walked into court to support David's trial.

The upcoming scene, due to be aired next month, also shows David outside the court reflecting on his free time before being sentenced.

David went on a rampage after discovering girlfriend Tina had aborted his baby.

His mother was also in on it and present during Tina's operation.

David pushed Gail down the stairs in revenge, almost killing her before later lashing out at other residents on the street.

Gail was hospitalised and refusing to turn her son in, claimed she was "confused" about the events leading to the fall.

David Platt, played by Jack Shepherd, reflects on his free time before he is sentenced

David, played by Jack Shepherd, has turned out to be a conniving terror over the years causing no end of turmoil.

He has continuously played devious games, including sending his mother cards from Richard Hillman - the sinister character who tried to kill Gail and her family.

The troublesome teen looks set to dominate Gail's life for many years to come.

Confused: Gail was hospitalised and refusing to turn her son in, claimed she was 'confused' about the events leading to the fall.
