Kalido has added support for more Microsoft business intelligence software to Kalido's data warehouse.

The additional support stems from the latest version of Kalido Universal Information Director released last week. The component automates the generation and population of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services cubes with data from Kalido's data warehousing software. Through these cubes data within Dynamic Information Warehouse can be accessed by Microsoft Office, PerformancePoint and SharePoint, Kalido said. Prior to the new release, the warehouse supported Microsoft Excel.

"While Microsoft Excel continues to be the most popular BI tool available for simple reporting and analysis, many organizations select Microsoft's more robust BI tools to institute a level of control and consistency in their reporting process," Bill Hewitt, president and chief executive of Kalido, said in a statement.

Kalido's flagship warehouse is key technology within the company's Information Engine, which also includes a BI infrastructure management environment. Information Engine comprises the warehouse, Universal Information Directory and Kalido Master Data Management. Together, the technology is designed to work with existing databases, data warehouses and transaction systems, easing metadata management and ongoing maintenance.

Besides the new Microsoft support, the Universal Information Director integrates with Business Objects, Cognos and more than 40 other BI tools, automatically creating and maintaining Business Objects Universes, Cognos models and other metadata models and reporting infrastructures.

In January, Kalido introduced the Business Information Modeler, which the company billed as "the first and only solution that transforms the design, development, deployment and maintenance of BI infrastructures."

Also a component of the Information Engine, the modeler breaks with the slow and cumbersome practices of static data modeling and custom programming that go into data warehouse development and ongoing maintenance.
